Description

The Sabre is an excellent value first-flight package ideally suited for freeride wingfoiling. The front foil is the core lifting element of any hydrofoil setup, and this design focuses on critical hydrofoil performance, including ease of take-off, high-pitch stability, and extractable performance during learning through to intermediate levels.

Our low-aspect, 2000cm2 surface area front foil excels in light winds for lighter riders under 75kg and heavier riders up to and over 100kg between 15-25 knots. The rear stabiliser foil has a surface area of 320cm2, making it very stable in pitch (fore and aft) and yaw (side to side) movements, an important factor on your journey through learning to intermediate levels.

While the total fuselage length is 82cm, the distance from the trailing edge (TE) of the front foil to the leading edge (LE) of the rear stabiliser is just 53cm, 43cm from the front foil LE to the mast centre, and 10.5cm from the TE of the front foil to the mass centre. Overall, the fuselage delivers optimum levels of manoeuvrability, and the 82 cm mast is ideal for flat to moderately choppy waters.

The milled aluminium fuselage holds the structure of the hydrofoil assembly together, providing a stiff connection between the front foil, rear stabiliser and mast to produce the best possible rider feedback and control.

Our 82cm fuselage is milled from billeted aluminium directly from our 3D files using CNC technology. The wide front foil connections increase torque stiffness compared to single strut attachments, secured by 3 x 8m stainless Torx Screws. The 82 cm extruded aluminium mast offers high rigidity and strength for frequent falls and groundings common when learning.

The Sabre kit comes with four different-sized shims that fit between the stabiliser and the fuselage, which changes the feel of the foil depending on the rider's preference. Using a + shim provides a higher angle of attack (AOA), resulting in more ‘nose-up’ force from the board; the greater the angle, the more nose-up the ride, and vice versa. Ideally, begin with + degrees of angle. Each shim is numbered according to the angle of attack (AOA).

The front foil and rear stabiliser are fabricated from 12k carbon twill, using high-pressure compression moulding for added strength. The mounting plate is milled from aluminium as a dual rail plate fitting. All components are supplied within a padded quality zippered bag.
